Wandering Scribes
Like all great travellers, I have seen more than I remember,
and I remember more than I have seen.
Benjamin Disraeli
Pictures from Peel, Isle of Man

My father, Fritz Lustig, 95, on the seafront at Peel, for the first time since being interned there 74 years ago.

My father in Marine Parade, Peel. In 1940, this was "Peveril Camp", housing 150-200 mainly Jewish internees from Germany and Austria behind barbed wire fences.

An official map dated July 1940, showing the extent of Peveril Camp.
A commemorative Isle of Man stamp, issued in 2010, as part of its Wartime Art series, showing the back of Marine Parade.
